  • mon: around neighborhood. Ran 2.5 miles. Slow jog out and back
  • wed: to end of road and back. Ran 2.0 miles.
  • sun: Lynnfield 10K Loop. Ran 6.2 miles for 94 minutes at 15:09 pace. Gallowalking.. Yep there is an app for that and I used it to time my 3 min run / 2 min walk intervals. I hate having to go back to gallowalking but I feel wonderful to have done the distance today and have 90 minutes on my feet for my first long run since the injury. Followed with a 90 minute nap 🙂

  • sun: Beginning again. Ran 2.0 miles. Today marks the beginning of my journey back to running after my injury. Approx 22 weeks ago I ruptured my achilles tendon during a road race and it has been a long slow road back from that day. I have had several aborted attempts to get back to running but inequalities in my stride left my knees and hips in a lot of pain for days each time. I can now walk and jog evenly with no “hitch” in my step. Thats the good news. The bad news is that even a 2 mile jog left me feeling like mile 20 used to feel… legs tired from the inside out. I will be putting together a training program to sensibly come back to fitness. My right calf has lost 1.5 inches in circumference and is 40 percent as strong as my left calf… so this is going to take some time.
