  • wed: Lynnfield and Peabody Bikepath. Rode 12.1 miles for 53 minutes at 13.49 mph. Gorgeous day! I got a new bike seat (split style) because my mother-in-law convinced my wife that I was going to damage my prostate using my normal bike seat ???!!! How does that come up in conversation anyway?
  • sun: Around Lynnfield. Rode 12.1 miles for 49 minutes at 14.66 mph. Nice evening fora bike ride! I still can’t run due to calf issues

Workouts 6
Time 218 min
Cycling 20.7 miles
Running 23.9 miles

  • mon: Locksley-Essex out and back. Ran 4.2 miles for 39 minutes at 9:19 pace. Well this was supposed to be a recovery run.. and it was for about 1 mile, then I.. ran faster.

By the way, if all goes well I will hit my 1000th mile run since I started in October sometime this week.

  • mon: Easy run. Ran 4.5 miles for 45 minutes at 10:00 pace. I guess the gym track is good for hot steamy days as well as blizzards. Dud my run on the Lattitude 1/8 mile track.
  • wed: Sherwood Forest and Pillings Pond. Ran 5.1 miles for 54 minutes at 10:41 pace. Oppressively hot and humid.. but anything can be handled if you are willing to go slow enough. It is really odd to feel that level of effort going that slow, but when any engine overheats you better nurse it along and cool it down or it will be in the shop.
  • thu: Sherwood-Fletcher-Essex-Loop. Ran 6.4 miles. Slow untimed run in the summer heat. The Good: I left after 6 pm so sun was behind trees. The Bad: For some reason every single sprinkler in every single house I passed was off. Don’t they know runners NEED them? Freakin water conservationists… Blah.
  • sat: Locksley loop plus fletcher. Ran 3.6 miles. 104 degrees. 4 water bottles. Ran very slow but cramped up in my left calf. Rolled it and stretched it, rubbed it and iced it but it still hurts. Damn it.. I was sure I was hydrated… Can heat and humidity cause a muscle cramp? This will probably mean no long run this weekend 🙁
  • sun: Cycling workout. Rode 20.7 miles for 80 minutes at 15.53 mph. My calf is still healing so I switched to cycling instead of running today. Gorgeous day for once! I was jealous of all the runners I saw out there today.

Workouts 3
Time 256 min
Running 24.5 miles

  • wed: Lynnfield 10K Loop. Ran 6.2 miles for 72 minutes at 11:37 pace. In one corner.. 95 degrees and 80 percent humidity. In the other corner… David with 2 layers of sunscreen, 4 water bottles and (according to my wife) a whole lot of stupidity. Winner and still champeeeen.. It’s David by a mile.
  • thu: Around the neighborhood. Ran 7.2 miles for 74 minutes at 10:21 pace. Enjoyable run in my VFFs in great weather. I am fully transitioned to minimalist shoes now. I am glad I am past the pain. I will be starting my fall half-marathon training next week (Smuttynose on 10/2 and Bay State Half on 10/16). I have to set my pace goal pretty quick!
  • sat: Lynnfield Long Run. Ran 11.1 miles for 110 minutes at 9:54 pace. Gorgeous morning for a long run in my VFFs. I kept my heart rate low and just cruised along. I left the house at 6:30 an i am glad I did. It was heating up by the time I was home.

Running 17.6 miles

  • tue: Montreal bike path. Ran 3.0 miles. Went fo a jog this morning when I got up. I dont’ really kn ow the city but I found a bike path and ran on that. It went pretty well although it is pretty humid.
  • fri: Locksley-Essex out and back. Ran 4.2 miles for 41 minutes at 9:43 pace. Had some stomach issues
  • sat: Sherwood Forest Loop. Ran 2.7 miles for 24 minutes at 8:57 pace. Fast run in the VFF’s
  • sun: Lynnfield-Summer-Essex-Loop. Ran 7.7 miles for 85 minutes at 11:05 pace. It was too hot and I was still tired from last night’s run. It went from 72 to 81 in an hour. I need to figure out some way to get these summer long runs done. Maybe I need to start leaving before dawn?

Workouts 4
Time 82 min
Running 21.2 miles

  • tue: Lynnfield 10K Loop. Ran 6.2 miles. Nice slow recovery run.. untimed. Lots of sun screen and a fuel belt with 4 water bottles. All of which I emptied. Listened to Lady Gaga’s new album. Just about every song on that album is great running music. I was passed by a lady jogging with her dog, a 14 year old with a bouncing pony tail and an old hunched over guy. I refused to let my ego speed me up.. today was a recovery run damnit. DO THEY KNOW I AM BEING SLOW ON PURPOSE???? lol
  • wed: Locksley-Essex out and back. Ran 4.2 miles. Easy run.. still on recovery from week end’s race
  • thu: Locksley-Wildwood out and back. Ran 3.1 miles. easy run
  • sat: Lynnfield-Summer-Essex-Loop. Ran 7.7 miles for 82 minutes at 10:42 pace. I started too late and it was too hot. I cut my planned 12 mile run short and came back on an alternate route
